Skateware

Giving back to the local community by creating a sense of destination and injecting energy

Situated in the heart of Ware, Hertfordshire, Skateware is a dynamic new skatepark development designed and built by Betongpark. This project revitalised a beloved yet ageing skatepark, breathing new life into a space that has long been central to community engagement.

At the core of the transformation is a striking visual identity brought to life through large-scale, hand-painted murals. These bold, energetic designs redefine the arrival experience, immersing visitors in a vibrant atmosphere from the moment they enter. The murals incorporate prominent typography as a signature feature, seamlessly integrated with abstract patterns that flow across the park’s surfaces, from the floor to various skatepark elements.

A key design highlight is the clever interplay of negative space within the overlaid letters ‘S’ and ‘W’ in Skateware. This typographic approach, combined with a vivid colour palette, creates a striking contrast against the raw concrete, reinforcing the park’s identity while enhancing its visual impact. More than just a facelift, Skateware’s redesign celebrates creativity, movement, and community, ensuring the space continues to inspire future generations of skaters.
